BONDING TREATMENT

Bonding Treatment: Aesthetic Tooth Correction in a Single Session
Bonding is an aesthetic composite restoration applied to the front surface of teeth after a very light preparation process. It is one of the fastest and most economical solutions for treating minor shape irregularities, color problems, and spaced teeth.
Which Aesthetic Problems Can Be Corrected with Bonding?
Minor shape and size irregularities
Masking minor color changes.
Diastema (closing the gap between teeth)
Visual correction of mildly crooked or protruding teeth.
Broken tooth restoration
Proportionalizing the lengths of worn teeth.
Lengthening short teeth
How long does bonding treatment last?
The lifespan of bonding treatment is generally between 5 and 8 years. This period may be shorter or longer depending on the frequency of tea, coffee, and cigarette consumption, as well as the level of oral hygiene. Superficial discoloration can be removed with polishing.
Bonding or porcelain veneers?
The best place to make a decision is a dentist's office; however, the general guidelines are as follows:
Minor corrections to a small number of teeth → Bonding is sufficient and economical.
Numerous front teeth + advanced discoloration or heavy coffee/tea consumption → Porcelain veneers are more durable (15-20 years lifespan).
Excessive teeth grinding (bruxism) + numerous teeth → Zirconium or porcelain crowns should be considered.
Bonding Application Process
The tooth surface is roughened with a micro-acid; then a bonding agent is applied. Composite resin is modeled layer by layer; polymerized with LED light. Finally, the surface is shaped and polished. Anesthesia is usually not required; the patient can eat the same day.
